Jay Johnson is a Chicago-trained voice talent and actor now residing in Charleston, SC. He retired from the U.S. Army as a master sergeant in October 2007 with 21 years of distinguished service culminating with the award of the Legion of Merit for his service as a public affairs specialist and broadcast journalist. As a Soldier, he has received numerous awards for broadcast excellence including the Defense Department's Military Photographer of the Year for Motion Media. And in 2009, he co-hosted and co-produced an Emmy Award winning TV program for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society Annual Convention. As an actor, Jay has two recurring roles on network and cable TV shows. He plays Franklin the letter carrier on CBS's The Inspectors; Jay also plays teacher Bruce Carter on HBO's Vice Principals beginning July 2016! He has also been seen in other smaller roles in TV and film: ABC's Resurrection, Lifetime's Army Wives where he also served as the on-set military advisor to the show, The Dark Knight, Animal Planet's Animal Witness, History Channel's Gangland, Investigation Discovery Channel's Undercover, and a supporting role in the independent film Chicago Heights (fka The Last Soul on a Summer Night) which has won acclaim at film festivals internationally and was named to Roger Eberts 10 best art films of 2010. Jay is an experienced voice talent with an extensive list of clients in the commercial and nonprofit industries.
